Minimum Validity months required on I-94 while approving Driving License in Utah

I have applied for DL in Salt Lake City with my Karnataka (Bangalore)'s license. They didn't accept Karnataka license saying they couldn't the License format in their system. But, they gave me limited period learner license for 3 months. With this license, I can drive only with another accompanied valid driver always. When I asked for any another earliest possible way to get licence, the officer told me to take Driver's ED. Driver's ED completion will make me eligible for applying for DL and need not to wait for 3 months. Till here fine ...

Now the question, when they are approving my license (either 3 months or I complete my drivers ED, which ever comes first), how many months minimum validity I should have on I-94? My I-94 expires on May 23, 2013.
