  • Which date should I use on my LCA to extend FTA H-1B1 Chile Stay? + 2 more questions.

    Hi everyone!

I have been reading the amazing advice that is always given here for a while, but this time I could not find something to answer my very specific question. As the title says, I'm under an FTA H-1B1 Chile visa, which is about to expire, this February. My employer is filing a new LCA application, and in "employment start date", he doesn't know if he should fill out the original start date, from last year, or the start date for this new period.

Also, last year we had a law firm file for us, and they didn't fill out section I. Is this for a specific reason? Should we fill it out?

And last question... I know a new LCA is not enough to renew a regular H-1B Visa, but since I had read that with my H-1B1, if I had a new employer, and a filed a new LCA with him, I could stay for that new period, does this apply to filing a new one with the same employer, or will I have to file some paperwork, like the regular non-FTA H-1B Visa? I'm concerned about this, since it seems if this was the case, I would have to file two separate forms, one I-129 for my H-1B1, and one I-539 for my wife's H-4.

I hope my questions can be answered... everyone here is amazing, and I'm glad I have the chance to post my questions here. Thanks!
