Re-entry to USA as a visitor after expired H1B Visa

I obtained an H1B visa good to Sept 2012 back in 2010.
After a couple years working for my job in the USA from Canada I decided to leave the job and return home to Canada.
The visa has now expired.

In a month I'd like to go on vacation to Cali with friends but wanted to know if I would have issues trying to enter the USA with an expired H1B just as a visitor and not trying to obtain work.

Is there a process to follow to surrender my expired H1B visa before trying to re-enter as a visitor?

Citizen of Canada,
planning on visiting for 12 days,
all i have is my valid Canadian passport but no tourist visa.
