Name Change in Passport in USA

Hi

I am now on H1 visa in USA . There is a problem with my name on my indian passport , my first name is in surname & surname is in firstname. All my US documents including H1 Petition, Visa etc are with the way its mentioned in Passport.

Now my question is that can i correct my name on my Passport in USA. If yes,then how can i do that. Even if i correct my name in Passport then does it necessary to change in USA visa, H1 petition etc.

Yes u can do amendments in ur passport , you will have to apply for that in nearest indian consulate of general once u will get ur new passport with correct name visa will not be cancelled in ur old passport but passport will be cancelled but u need to carry both passport during traveling and old petition as well
