Is there a limit on the number of times an H1 can be extended in 6 years

I am pretty sure that there is no such limit on how many times a H1 can be filed/extended within a period of 6 years, but I have been recently told that only 2 extensions (including a new petition by any other employer in case of changing jobs) is allowed. This info comes from the immigration team of a certain company and hence this doubt. Can someone please clarify this ?
