H1b application in lottery,can we visit to india in btw

Hi,
My spouse came to US on H4 and applied H1 but have not heard the lottery result yet. Can he visit India before he get his H1 approval if selected in lottery?

Looks like, yes he can.

But the I94 submitted to uscis for h1b filing will be different from the one he would have after revisiting india. Can that be a problem or is there a way to update uscis regarding the new i94.
