H1B Visa 2006 CAP ... URGENT

I had applied for my H1 and the application receipt date for USCIS was May 17th, 2005. I have two contrasting pieces of information about the CAP. Could you guys help me out in letting me know whether my application will be considered for sure for this financial year's CAP or since my application has NOT been approved till the day 2006 CAP was reached (Aug 11, 2005), Are my chances as good as over? What is so 'eventful' about Oct 1 then? Have people started receiving their approved petitions?

Hi,
If you have been given the receipt no., you still have a chance. Follow it up online. If you have not been given the receipt number, find out if the company/attorney who filed for the same have heard anything.
