H1-B Visa Duration

Hello,

I got H1B visa in 2009 for three years but I got back to my country in 2010. That means I stayed there only for one year on H1B status. In that case is it counted as 1 year of H1B visa and still i can get 5 years of h1b visa (2+3). or irrespective of how much duration i stayed in USA, it is counted as 3 years H1B .

Only time spent in US is counted you can potentially stay for another 5 Years.
