Hi,
Everyone here is probably well aware of the circumstances in which the 'FNU' code is used. For the sake of completeness, I will sequentially present how this is relevant in my case and then post my questions.
1. Passport Particulars:
Given Name: John Doe
Surname:
2. F1 visa and I-94 on arrival:
Given Name: FNU
Surname: John Doe
3. Employment Authorization Card on OPT
Given Name: No Given Name
Surname: John Doe
4. I-797 A and attached I-94 from Employer X
Given Name: No Given Name
Surname: John Doe
5. I-797 A and attached I-94 from Employer Y
Given Name: John
Surname: Doe
I intend to visit a consulate in India to complete the H1B stamping process. I'm concerned if I will encounter any issues at the consulate or at port of entry upon return because of the missing FNU usage on my most recently approved h1b petition. From what I understand, there are 3 possibilities:
1. Apply for an amendment to the petition to revert to the FNU usage - Does anyone know what the timelines associated with this would be?
2. Apply for name bifurcation on the Indian passport at an Indian consulate- Does anyone know what the timelines associated with this would be?
3. Do nothing since other particulars like passport #, date of birth, birth certificate, degree certificates etc confirm that it is very much the same person.
As with most pressing concerns, I'm also in a spot where I have to operate within severely constrained time frames. Any advice/inputs/suggestions are welcome and I'd be very grateful for the same.
Thanks.
