H4 for 2 months

My H1B is approved and valid from1st Oct,2014 but my current H4 visa is expiring on 30th July. Is it possible to apply for extension just for 2 months ie. from 30th July to 30th sep so that I'll be in H4 status for the next 2 months and can continue to be US on H1 after 1st October

When is spouse's H1 B and associated I-94 expiring? If your H4 and spouse's H1 and I94 all expiring on 30th July then you should premium processing of H1 extension so that your H4 also gets extended along with spouse's H1. Remember, if your H4 is not extended before 01-Oct-2013 and later on gets extended you would move back to H4 status.
