H1B USCIS approved but Consulate need more time to review

I have an approved USCIS H1B petition and went to the consulate in Amsterdam and the officer gave me a letter saying need more time to review the case!

Is this possible as already approved by USCIS Vermont Center??

Means can still be denied??

And how long would this take??

Visa application and petition are two separate things. Not even the parties involved are the same. Petition is filed by your employer with USCIS. Visa application is made by you to the consulate (Department of State). Petition approval in no way guarantees Visa issuance.

Unfortunately, one cannot predict how long it will take for the consulate to make the decision. It can be anywhere from a week to a year.
