Company H1B - Delay Joining Date? Travel

I recently had an approved H1b petition (from a private company). The start date is Oct 1st. I am currently working on a University-H1B visa.

Instead of starting on Oct 1st with the company, I want to go to my home country (India) around Sept END, and then get the new company-H1B stamped and then come back and join.. (which means the joining will be delayed).

CAN I DO THIS?..
