  • Multiple H1Bs

    Hi gurus

I have H1b stamped which is valid till sept'15, unfortunately there are no current projects now where I can be sent to the US. Getting the H1 transfer done being outside US seems difficult hence this question. If I am being sent to US on a short term project, can i get the transfer done while continuing with current employer and once the deliverables are done with currrent employer, i can resign there in US and join the next employer OR if I come back to India, I can resign in India and after serving notice period in India, I can travel back to US on next employer visa. The notice period is not an issue with the next employer.
    are these options workable.

    Thanks for your help.

    Multiple H1Bs

As per my knowledge anybody can have unlimited H1B visas approved, but only one should be active at any given point of time, that means he should be working for only one company.
To answer your question, you can come to usa, work on small project with current employer.... you can try outside and apply for H1B transfer as many as you want...Let us say you got one job and applied for h1 transfer, then you can resign to current employer and join the new employer.

    Best things to do:
    1. Come to usa and work for current employer
    2. try outside and get at least two jobs ( you don't have to tell your current employer)
    3. accept one offer and file for h1 transfer ( still...you don't have to tell your current employer)
    4. Once you receive the I-797 approval copy, resign to current job and join the new one.

    Hope this helps...
