  • J1 Muslim country

    Hi,

I have recently completed my Ph.D. from a University in the US. I am getting a job offer from a UK based company and they are planning to post me in Dubai. I plan to apply for my post-doctoral fellowship in the US later. If I have worked in a Muslim country for a few years, will there be a problem in getting a J1 visa. If I apply to a US government organization for my fellowship, will it be a problem to get a J1 visa, if I have been working in a Muslim country ? After completing my fellowship, if a private company in the US is offering my a job and I want to transfer to H1B visa, will there be problems?

I want to decide based on my future prospects. I might not work for long and want to get back soon for my post-doctoral studies in the US.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

    Hello, Kgorahava.

I am not sure if there is something specific to J1 visas. Americans are generally extra cautious with certain religions and religious people. But, having said that, i feel, your profile is extremely good. It is the individual who matters most and you have a very good profile.

I personally do not feel there should be any trouble given your background and academic experience.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
These are my personal thoughts. I am not a professional.

    Wishing you luck.
