General H1B Questions

Dear Friends,

I am going for stamping H1B in October at Chennai, i have the follwoing doubts:

1.Actually i stay in Delhi, but i have used my native address which is in Tamilnadu for processing.Now all my documents inluding my DS-156 contain only my native address.Will this be a problem since it is mentioned that we have to use the address where we are residing for the past 6 months??

2.Is DS-157 only for male applicants??

3.My wife is also coming in H1B to US. In this case what sh'd i mention in Question 34 in DS-156 which states: " Name & relationship of the person travelling with you"?? Actually my wife will US along with me but as an independent H1B non-immigrant, so sh'd i mention her name in form DS-156??

4.My bank statement contains less transactions.Also sometimes i get my salary by cheque, ie it dosent get deposited into my salary account...Will this be a problem if they ask in the counslate??? Also can i take online printouts of statements for visa interview??

5.What sh'd be the convincing answer for "How long do you intend to stay in US"??

6.My place of stay is not yet confirmed in US.My employer will assist once i reach there.In this case what sh'd i mention in DS-156 for the question "At what address will you stay in US"??

7.What sh'd be the answer for "List all professional, social and charitable organization you have worked"? Question 13 in DS-157??

The address in the DS 156 is usually where your home in India is. This should be fine as you are going to the Chennai Consulate.

2.Is DS-157 only for male applicants??

Yes. Males between 16 and 45.

Yes. Mention her name if you both propose to travel together, its OK if she goes on her own H1. Answer relevantly if the Visa Officer asks you about her visa stamping.

For first time H1B stampings, bank statements are not mandatory, so its OK if u don't have a good balance.

5.What sh'd be the convincing answer for "How long do you intend to stay in US"??

Till the expiry of H1B petition. Mention exact date from petition.

Ask your employer for their guest house address in the US and mention the same.

7.What sh'd be the answer for "List all professional, social and charitable organization you have worked"? Question 13 in DS-157??

that is some thing like Bar Council of a State or Red Cross, etc. Mention relevantly.
