Entering US on H4 visa and converting to F1

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum and I need help please.

My father is working in USA in Walgreens Co. and I have a H4 visa valid till May 2015. I am 22 years old now. I have completed my Under Graduation a year back in India. Now I am planning for my Masters in US. I have good GRE and TOEFL scores and I have got I-20's from a few universities. But the problem is I have many backlogs in my B.Tech and I am afraid that if go for F1 visa interview, i may get rejected. So I have a few questions regarding the same

1) Can i go to USA on my current H4 visa, and as I have I-20's can I join the university and later convert it to F1 visa ?

2) If i go for F1 visa interview in India and if I get rejected, then will my current H4 visa also be cancelled ?

I kindly request someone to please help me out. Any help will be kindly appreciated. Thanks

h4 to f1

1) yes u can go on H4 and apply for COS and change the status to F1
2) even if F1 visa gets rejected then there is no impact on H4 you can still travel to USA on H4
