I have been working in US for several years on H1B and visited India on vacation and went to Chennai consulate for a visa interview (stamping) on 11/14 with an approved I-797 form.
I was given a 221(g) blue sheet. The 221(g) sheet has the following check-box marked: "Your application requires additional administrative processing before a final decision can be made."
No other check-boxes are marked and no documents are requested.
When I check the status of my passport today (11/16) on www.ustraveldocs.com, I get the following message: "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery".
What does this mean? Have they made a decision so quickly and sending my passport back? Or should I be expecting another 221(g) sheet asking for additional documentation and my passport returned with no stamping?
By reading some posts it's a bit scary that people are waiting several months to get through 221(g). I have a full-time job in US where several days of "work-from-home" is not feasible.
I am anxious. Any insights / details are very very appreciated!
Thanks!
