lost expired blank passport

Hi

I have lost my expired old passport when I was taking my new passport (I have photo copy of first and last pages of it)

I never attended for US stamping (I attended for UK stamping, but it was not successful) - so it was blank passport.

Can I know:
- is it required(mandatory) that I should carry my old passport when I am attending for H1 B Visa interview ?
- is the old passport is required while travelling to US ?

If you dont have the old passport then how you can take it with you. But if there is any section which asks whether you ever lost a passport you have to answer in the affirmative. Hope you do have police complaint copy with you. Just in case.
