Need advice for H4

Recently got my H1B VISA stamping in India, due to some personal reason not able to travel immediately . I am traveling to US in the month of Jan.The main thing is I did not schedule the interview for my kid and wife with me as they applied and were waiting for their fresh passport . Right now we have received both passports. Shall i apply H4 for them now .? Will it be an issue that i hv not yet made travel to US? Please advice me.
