H1 to H4 COS & H1 transfer at the same time

Dear experts,

My wife and I are currently working in same Company A in east coast and we both hold an H1B till 9/30 2015. My wife found a new job in west coast and the company will transfer her H1B over. We decided to go together so I will leave my current position and do a H1B to H4 COS. My question is, when should I file the COS? Is it okay to do COS for myself and H1 transfer for my wife at the same time without taking the risk for me to become out-of-status?

Is there anything we should keep in mind for this situation?

Advisable to file your H1 to H4 only after your spouse's H1 transfer is approved.
