The Maximum Limit per year is 65000 for india.

6500 is the quota set by the congress for the year 2006 for skilled workers from throughout the world and not just India. It changes every year. The CAP for 2007 will be announced sometime in April 2006.

quota for 2006 is over r still exists........

my company filed h1 visa for me on aug 11th 2005 , can anybody guess how long it will take for them to process visa and call for interview.

Hi,
The quota closed on 12th August. I guess petitions will be selected at random to be adjudicated on. Try getting the 13 digit tracking number (receipt number) from the co. or its attorney and track it on uscis.gov site
