Done my engineering in mechanical,and working as s/w programmer.Am i eligible fr H1b?

I have done my engineering in mechanical ,and working as software programmer for two years(experience:2 years in Software
).Am i eligible to apply for H1B visa? If not at how many years of experience in IT, i will be eligible to apply for H1B visa as computer programmer or software engineer related jobs?

I would appreciate if somebody clarifies me .Thanks
