Total time on H-1B plus H4 Visa - is it 12 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to know total time a person can stay in USA on H-1B ( for 6 years) and then H4 visa

Suppose I am on H-1B and my wife is on H4 from last 5 years and now my wife got new H-1B ( in last year of her H4 visa)

now after 6 year of my H-1B can I change my status to H4 and stay here for another 6 years

Yes technically you can, but do remember, legally, you cant work on H4.
