Travel on B2 even if I have H1b stamped

My H1b is valid till sept 2015. I was working in US for 1 year on H1b till now. Now i donot have a project and my employer has suggested me to travel back to India till a project is assigned.

Now when I am in India I have to take care of some personal errand in US and want to travel to US.
My questions:

1) Can i travel on B2 without affecting my H1b
2) What can be a valid reason to travel to US on B2.
3) Can I say at immigration that I am not on a project now?

2. Whatever is the real reason allowed under B2.
3. Only if they ask.

In such situations normally the POE officer will mark a no AOS/EOS/COS allowed.

Thanks Raghvi. Right now i am not paid while I am in India. Now when i want to travel n B2, at the POE, would he cancel my H1 because i am not paid in US?

They have a right to do so but I doubt they will for this reason, as said, worst case they may give a NO AOS/EOS/COS annotation.
