Good day
This is my first! I came to the US with a student visa F1 and was able to find a job on campus which allowed me to obtain a SSN and a card. I did my OPT and was then sponsored by a company. My SSN is limited. I believe it says for "work only...) I am trying to enroll in a masters, and as far as I understand H1b visa holders can enroll. However, on the application when I tried to insert my SSN number it was not recognized. I pay taxes under this number, all agencies report to this number, haven't had any issues until this occurred. As an H1b with a limited social security card, can we use this number to enroll in school? do we need to get a new ssn card. How those this process work?
I really need your help because I've been calling the government offices for direction and all they do is tell me to call another office and back and forth.
