How is 6 years of H1 tenure calculated?

My Stay in the US is as below,
L1: Sep 2009 - Oct 2011 > 2 years 2 months
H1: Feb 2013 - till date > 1 year 2 months

A) I wanted to know how much duration is remaining on my H1
>> 2 years 8 months ( 6 years minus H1 & L1 stay)
or
>> 4 years 10 months (6 years minus H1 stay)

B) Based upon the above answer, latest by when do I need to get GC initiated in order to continue beyond 6 years?

When was your H1 petition filed? After Oct 2012 or Before Oct 2012? If it was filed before Oct 2012 then you have 2 Years 8 Months remaining on H1 and should initiate GC before Dec 2015.
If t was filed after Oct 2012 then you have 4 Years 10 Months remaining and can wait till Dec 2017 to initiate GC.
