Mistake in DS-157

Hi all,

Please guide me...I had filled the DS-157 form through the VFS website while booking an appointment for interview. While entering the contact numbers of the previous employers, I had (by mistake) entered the wrong contact numbers. Now I cannot go back and change the information since I already confirmed and booked the interview slot. Please advise me as to how can I correct this.

Is it OK if I let the Consulate people know about this, once I reach the consulate office on my interview day.

Let the consular officer know about this when you go there for an interview.

You can modify the DS-156 , DS-157 as many as you want through the VFS application.but you can not update the passport details and Petition details.

Navigaation to modify the Existing application:
1.Go to VFS website
2.Click on Apply for Visa application
3.select No option and proceed. Three links appears in next screen.
A.Creta New Applicaition
B.Modify Existing Appliaction( With this link applicaion you can only update DS-156 and DS-157)
c.Downlaod the All forms.
4.Select the Second link. it takes to another screen which displays the links to DS-156 and DS-157 for all the applicants of the apppintment.
5. Update the details and click on Save the application link.


Even I have faced the same problem. to solve this problem i went to VFS office personally and asked aboput this. One girl said I need to cancel the appointment and take new appointment. All the employees in Chennai VFS office doen't know much about this application. Don't call them.try to go to their office and solve your problems.

but keep in mind if any changes are required regarding the Passport and Petetion , you need to cancel the appointment and take new one. Don't go to counselate with the mistakes. they will not accept the application.

Query regarding DS 156 form

I had a couple of other questions regarding the DS 156 form. Please guide me....

I have been to US in Aug 2001 on a F1 visa and came to India on a vacation in Dec 2002. I went back to US in Jan 2003 and finally returned to India in June 2004. In the DS 156 form(Question 29) it asks whether I have earlier been to US and if yes when and how long? For this Q, should I mention that I been to US in Aug 2001 or should I mention it as Jan 2003.
The form also asks about my additional trips to US. Is my going back to US from India after a month-long vacation(Dec2003-Jan 2004), considered as an additional visit to US?

Also, it asks as to when do I intend to arrive in US. Is providing a specific date mandatory for this question.
