I work for a MNC in Bangalore and have visited US multiple times on business (B1) visa. I also have an active 10 year B1 visa (business). My husband is going to travel to US soon, on H1. In order to accompany him, I want to apply for an H4.
1. If I do get an H4, will my B1 stand cancelled?
2. After I get an H4, can I still travel on business requirements from my office?
3. If I need to work in the US, how difficult is it to change the visa status from H4 to H1/B1 to H1?

LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE CONSULATE. IN ALL PROBABILITIES, B1/B2 WILL BE CANCELLED

2. After I get an H4, can I still travel on business requirements from my office?
NO. IF YOU ENTER US ON H4 VISA, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WORK

3. If I need to work in the US, how difficult is it to change the visa status from H4 to H1/B1 to H1?
YOU WILL HAVE TO FIND AN h1B EMPLOYER WHO CAN PETITION FOR YOU. H1B IS BOUND BY QUOTA EVERY YEAR, PRESENT QUOTA IS OVER. YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL APRIL 2006 FOR THE NEW FILINGS.

4. Can I work on H4?
