Out of status while changing jobs ?

I am planning to switch to a new employer. The petition with the new employer has already been filed and approved. The start date of the new employer's petition was one week ago.

If I have a break of few (2-3) days between leaving my current employer and start date of new employer, would I be legally out of status for these few days.

Can there be any complications because of this or is it advisable to not have any gap between the employers ?

Technically any day on which you are not paid would be considered out of status. Advisable to take the break over a weekend or long weekend as non working days are not counted.
