Scheduling the Visa Interview Date in India

Hello All,
I need to schedule H1B visa stamping interview date in kolkata embassy on 18th-Sep -2014 (today being 7/20).
Is there any clause that visa dates are available only 1 month prior or something?

Also, another friend of mine who is waiting for his docs is planning so get the interview dates in the 1st week of Sep for the same date(18-Sep). Will he get the desired visa dates if he applies 15 days earlier?

Scheduling the Visa Interview Date in India

Interview dates are normally based on first come first served basis, but in our case the appointment website lets you choose the earliest available date, or any other available later date. I am guessing its the same case for Kolkata.
