Hi,
I live in NY for the past 2 years on an H1B visa. I have a valid international driving license in English but not an American license.
I would like to go to California for a few days on vacation and drive there.
According to the California DMV: "If you are a visitor in California over 18 and have a valid driver license from your home state or country, you may drive in this state without getting a California driver license as long as your home state license remains valid."
I asked the car rental company and they said they can rent me a car and sell me insurance as long as I have an international valid driver license.
Does it mean that I can drive in California with my international driving license even though I live in the US for two years and don't have a NY license?
Thank you
