US citizen children allowed to accompany parents for stamping

We are planning to get our H1B visas stamped in Mumbai when we travel to India this year end.
Our 1.5 year old daughter holds US passport.Since she is not familiar with any of our relatives, we are not really confident if she will stay with any of our relatives while we are at the US consulate to get our visas stamped,so will the US consulate allow him to accompany us during our stamping appointment ? I have sent email to U.S. Visa Service Desk and they said you may take her for the interview and can request the Consulate officer and accordingly they may take the call.

Has anyone taken the US citizen child in recent past for visa interview ? Please share your experiences .

Couple of days back I took my 3 month old son along with us for our interview at US embassy in Ottawa. They don't ask anything
