How many years I can stay in US in case of VISA transfer from L1 to H1

If I transfer my VISA from L1 to H1, how many years can I stay in US?
Will it be a full term of H1 (6 years)
Or remaining of L1 stay period? i.e., If I have stayed for 3 years in L1 then the remaining period of 3 years?

If there is no one year gap between your exit on L1 and filing of H1 then the stay of L1 would be also considered. So if you have spent 3 years in L1 then a COS to H1 would only have 3 years validity as L1+ H1 can only be 6 years. At the same time if you really interested in staying beyond 6th year you need to start planning for GC.
