Regarding my h1b status

Hi,

I have applied my h1b in 2008. got approval but because of personal problems I changed it to h4. till now (ie. 2014) I am on h4 only. Now I want to try for a job. so
Now my question is
1. As 6 years got over can I use the same h1b (with cap eximpt) if I get a job? and change from h4 to h1?
2. Can I use the same h1b or Do I need to apply a new h1b?
3. What is the validity of unused h1b?
4. where Can I get information about unused h1 b status?

Do you already have an employer?

1. 2008 was 6 Years back, so it seems a close call for you, talk to an immigration attorney.
2. If you are cap exempt yes you can otherwise you would have to apply afresh.
3. 6 Years.
