H1 Transfer while another transfer is in process

Hi,
I am on H1B and my I94 is valid for another 2 years. I have resigned company A and joined another company B on the basis of receipt number. My H1 transfer is done in normal processing.
But now I do not want to continue with company B and have started looking for options.

Can I switch to another company C while my H1 transfer is till in process?
Is there any risk in doing so?

Though C can file what is called a bridge petition, the biggest risk is if B's petition is rejected you go out of status and would have to leave US.
