Can I enter USA on B1/B2 visa, travel to Mexico and then re-enter on H1B

I have a valid H1B stamp (cap exempted). The start date of work is April 1st 2015.
Because I can enter the US on the H1B 10 days before the work start date, I am wondering if I can enter on B1/B2 visa in February 2015, then travel to Mexico in March 2015 for 1 week and finally re-enter the US on H1B?
