I have recently renewed my passport that is expiring in 7.5 months. I will have updated marital status and my wife's name in the new passport. I will receive the new passport soon, probably in a week's time. In the meantime a company has initiated my H1B petition's transfer (I have never traveled to US and the H1B petition has never been stamped).
My question is if I can use my old passport to initiate the transfer of H1B petition? The old passport has been stamped "Extended by re-issue of a fresh passport". I would like to know if using the old passport is alright and will not cause any issue to my wife accompanying me to the US.
