Hello everyone,
I signed an offer with job starting in August. I will be applying for OPT. I am technically graduating in May, but I can finish my coursework before April 1st 2015. So my question is:
If I finish my coursework by March 2015 and get a letter confirming that from my school, can I fill a petition for this year? ( April 1st 2015? ) The company will do it of course not me.
Please correct me if I am wrong: the two possible scenarios are:
- I meet the quota this year: I will be on OPT until October 1st 2015 and then my H1B starts
- I do not meet the quota this year, so I will start work in August, stay on OPT until next year and refill a petition on April 1st 2016 and hopefully get it then.
Is that correct?
