Urgent Advise needed H1 to H4 conversion

Hi , I entered US on H4 in Jun 2014. I had also filed for H1 and got it approved on 15th Dec 2014. Due to personal issues I couldn't start the project with my new employee and hence no paystubs have been generated for me at this point. My employee plans to withdraw my H1 petition by end of this month.

What options do I have ?
a) Can I apply for COS from H1 to H4 again with my spouse's company ? What documents will be needed , will they require paystubs too ?
b) As I dont have paystubs, wil there be any issues with my H4 approval ?
c) Do I need to go back to India and go for H4 stamping again ?
c) Can I just cross border to Mexico/Canada and reenter back on H4 on my passport and get in H4 status ?

A vacation letter is not going to do any good. You can't be without pay when you are on H1B. You do need to go back to H4 while you look for another employer. You want to try and get this done as soon as possible to reduce the time you are out of status.
