H4 and H1B stamping process one after another
Hi
this is the scenario:
I have an approved H1B from my employer and the company is proceeding with my stamping process even though not sure if I will be travelling anytime soon.
My husband is in US and I want to travel back ASAP, and since it looks like there would not be travel on H1 anytime soon, I am okay if I need to travel on H4 as well (but dont want to lose my H1B stamp! since I plan to get back to work later and current H1 validity is of 3 years).
I have read few places that since both visas of same category the Visa officer could cancel my H1B stamp if it already exists. not sure if vice versa is true, meaning if a H4 stamp exists does it mean they will ignore and give H1b visa without issues?
The reason why I want to get H4
my question is: Is it advised that I get the H4 stamp first and then go for H1B stamping or vice versa?
Note: I have been employed with same employer for 7 years and I have had 3 H1B stamps previously and also been in US with H1B before and held H1B status.
