Go back to India in between L1 to H1 processing

Hi Team,

I am in USA on L1 Visa. My L1 visa is valid until 2016.

I am interested to apply for H1 . I am new to this .

What are the things to consider when selecting employer and what benefits/package related issues to consider.

I have few questions:

1) If I apply for H1 , can I go back to India and come before October .
2) If I travel what are the consequences and procedures.
3) Are there any steps to carry out if I come back from India and how much it would cost.
