  • Enter US--DC/Raleigh-Durham?

I will be landing in US in January 2006 from India. My employer's place is in Washington DC.
Once Immigration is cleared at N.Y, can I first visit my brother at RDU(Raleigh/Durham) without any hassles with Immigration or is it mandatory to first land in Washington DC no matter what?
    Please advise immediately.
    Thanks

Once you clear the immigration at N.Y/JFK, there won't be any kind of immigration check until you go out and re-enter US again. From NY to Raleigh-Durham, it would be a domestic flight and all you need is some kind of identity like passport or Driver's License. As the other member said, you can land anywhere in the US and once immigration is cleared at that Port Of Entry you can travel to anywhere in US without immigration check.

        Thanks

Thanks a lot for your replies.
However, may I know if the Immigration Officer would even check the connecting flight details at NY?
So when asked if I show the Immigration Officer the details of Connecting flight from NY to RDU., will I be calling for problems?
        Thanks in advance

See they never see your flight itinerary or tickets. At the most they will ask you where you going? For that question, say your client's place i.e., say name of the place. Not to worry too much...
