Urgent : Indian Passport renewal while H1 B transfer in Progress

Hi,

I am currently in US with valid H1 visa . I got a new job and my H1 B visa transfer is in progress with new employer.

Is it possible for me to renew my Indian Passport while the H1B Visa Transfer is in progress . Will it cause any problem in H1B visa transfer ?

Some dates would have helped, as to when H1 expiring, when passport expiring, normal or premium H1 transfer.

Not advisable to mix and match two different processes. Why not spend some extra money and get passport renewed in tatkal and use the renewed passport to do the transfer, OR spend extra money to get transfer done in premium, and once transfer is completed is do a passport renewal. The disadvantage of the second option is that if you apply for transfer before passport renewal, you would get I-94 only till passport expiry.
