H1-B extension

My H1B extension is under process under the normal routine and I have filed for an extension. Can I continue to work inpite of my 1st visa becomes expired while my H1B extension is under process...... or does expiration of my 1st visa make me out of status. Thanks.

You may continue working under the "H1B Portability Act" You will not be out of status unless it gets denied.
