I have H1B employer. Before started working with him we found that it is not necessary to hire me, but I have a visa.
Is it legal to find another employer in US instead of this?
Can my sponsor cancel my visa?
Is it legal to make some agreement to ensure my sponsor will not cancel my visa while I find another employer?
What is the procedure of visa cancelation by employer?

It is as simple for a sponsor/employer to cancel your visa. At a given point most of the sponsors/employers will notify USCIS with the last working day of an employee in that company. When that letter of notice is received by USCIS, they will update their system effecting canceling your H1B.

As a H1B employee, you have the right to choose or change the job. Best approach is if you find another sponsor/job and file for H1 transfer, that way you will not go through hassle experience of going through consular processing (if you are already in the U.S).

Mostly you can have a verbal agreement with your employer to allow grace period till you find another sponsor/job.
