Can H1 be extended for 3 years when passport will be expiring next year??

Hi,

My Passport expires on July 2016 where as my H1b Expires on Oct 2015.
Will I be able to get my H1b Extended for 3 years even when my passport is valid only till next year?
I would like to get my passport renewed before applying for my H1b Extension but I've heard we can only renew our passports 12 months before expiration.
Kindly respond soon if anyone knows about this.

Visa, petition, and I-94 are three different things. Visa, petition might get extended beyond the Passport expiry but I-94 would most likely be not.

Possible but first get the passport renewed. If I were you I would spend a few extra and get passport renewed under tatkaal by personally visiting the Indian consulate and then apply for extension.
