H1 visa holders LAST NAME in spouses passport for H4 visa Stamping ???

Do we need to add the H1 visa holders name in spouses passport before applying for H4 visa. Am looking to apply for h4 in Chennai consulate.

don't know wether it is MUST or not.....

but one of my freind told me that it's BETTER if she has her last name changed to your last name before going for H4.....

I have NO idea abt the process involved.....

can someone type down theri thoughts on this pls?......

Look Dude... Things have changed a lot in terms of visas and stuff.. What I am gonna tell you is just my opinion after going through these things.

It won't hurt and it might only help if the spouse name is present on the passport because it becomes easier to prove that you are married. And if your wife is planing to change her last name after she comes here... I will strongly recommend that she does that before she gets the visa. Trust me, You will avoid a lot of hassles later on...

But when my wife went for H-4, she had her passport in her maiden name and it didn't have my name in the spouse section. So....you might be fine too but I will recommed taking your marriage certificates and marriage snaps.

CONCLUSION: If you think it can be done.. get it DONE...if Not.. don't worry too much...& GOOD LUCK
