H1B Amendment or Extension??

Hi,

My H1b visa expiry date - 9/30/2015. I need to visit INDIA during april 25th - May 25th 2015 for urgent reason. I need to go for stamping in INDIA for me to travel back to USA as never done stamping in H1 so far ( last year did COS form L1B to H1B).

Employer mentioned that client in petition while applied for H1b is different from the current client. So it is recommended to go for h1B amendment for client change and then travel to INDIA and go for stamping.

Questions I have in this situation

1. How many days before I can apply for h1b extension?

2. I read as max 6 months before expiry, if yes, Is it recommended to go for H1B extension with NO amendment on or after April 1st 2015 through premium processing. once Approved go to INDIA with new petition and get it stamped?

please suggest fro your experiences.

Why was amendment not done when client location changed?

I would say first get amendment done as per current work location/role. And only then initiate an extension.
