H4 Visa holder

Hi,

I am an H4 visa holder. My husband is on H1. He is here on H1 from an Indian employer. I am planning to get my H1 processing. I heard that if I am here in US while filing my H1, I need not go for H1 stamping until and unless I leave the country.
My Husband is going to India on a short term assignment in India ( for 4 months). He'll be back to US after that. Can I stay back here in US even if he leaves to India?
