First time H1B stamping

Hi,

I've changed my visa status from H4 to H1.
And now, if I want to go for stamping in canada/Mexico , what are the things should be considered since its the first time H1B stamping?
Those who have come across a similar scenario pls share your experiences.Your suggestions will be of great help to me.

For first time H1B stamping, it is strongly suggested that you attend the consulate at your home country.

Thanks for the reply. But I have heard so many students have got their H1B stamped for the first time from Mexico/Canada without any problem. Is there any specific reason why you dont suggest stamping in Mexico/Canada? Also pls let me know how many pay stubs they expect for first time stamping?

Verifications of education, experience are made in detail for every student visa issuance at the home consulate. therefore the consulates at the border stamp H1B easily at the border. But for H4 visa issuance, nothing about the H4 applicants education, experince are verified. Only the spouse's papers are verified. Therefore as the visa officers outside India are not whiolly capable of verifying Indian degrees, experiences, they re-direct the applicant back home. I don't deny that there are odd cases where stamping is successful at the border. But in your case you can start working if your change of status application has been approved even without a stamping. You will need a stamping only if you have to travel out of US for any other reason.
